They misapply and misunderstand scriptures. They misapply scriptures such as Matthew 24:13, Hebrews 10:26, when Mt. 25:13 doctrinally applies to the tribulation or the millenium and Heb 10:26 refers to total apostasy and rejection of Christ, not backsliding.
