Thought For The Week

Boy, oh Boa!
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:3
Imagine being a seven-year-old boy watching television with your buddy. Suddenly you feel something move on the sofa behind you. You adjust the cushions, and a huge snake slithers across the fabric and falls into a ball at your feet. That happened recently to two boys in Brooklyn. They screamed for help, and soon the police had evacuated their 62nd Street apartment. But even the police were spooked, and it was the Animal Care and Control Center that finally removed the boa from the room. The snake had apparently crawled into the apartment through the plumbing.
It's a lesson to us all. The "old serpent" is closer than we think. He creeps into our homes, slithers through our offices, and tries to deceive us just as he deceived Eve. Our greatest defense is our "sincere and pure devotion to Christ." The devil can't do much with a person who is sincerely and purely devoted to the Lord Jesus. He has no answer to a committed disciple and no strategy against the blood of the risen Savior.
Satan has three titles given in the Scriptures… a dragon, to note his malice; a serpent, to note his subtlety, and a lion to note his strength.
